Black & Light

I've always wanted to do a black and white shoot with my wife. Just the two of us — simple, timeless, and honest. It was one of those ideas that lingered in my head for some time waiting for the right moment. And last week, we finally had it. We had some free time; no work or errands to run and we thought, “This is the day!”

I set up the camera on a tripod and connected it to my phone for remote shooting. You'll probably catch me holding the phone in a few of the shots — those weren’t supposed to make the final cut, but they looked so good and, why not?

For lighting, I kept it simple: a single speedlight and umbrella, angled about 45 degrees above us. Nothing fancy, just a clean setup that brought out the textures and shadows I was aiming for.

And the space? Our lounge — white walls, a grey backdrop on one side (I didn’t design that, by the way lol). It actually works perfectly to soften the tv background on a regular day and for the shoot; the tones blended just right and gave the images a subtle depth that I like.

I’m honestly so proud of how these turned out. It’s more than just a photo session — it’s a snapshot of black love and light. I love the fact that we were rela…okay yea you got me, my wife was relaxed not me 😂. I have taken a million pictures of people but I´ll never get used of photographing myself. But doing this at home and in our space really helped.

Anyway, enough rambling. I hope you love the photos as much as I do…My wife does and that makes me smile 😊

Tschüss!

Leipzig Christmas Market “Weihnachtsmarkt’’

There’s something undeniably enchanting about Christmas markets—maybe it’s the twinkling lights, the sweet scent of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts, ‘heiße schokolade mit Baileys’ or the sound of carolers filling the air with festive cheer. As a filmmaker, I see these moments not just as memories to cherish but as stories waiting to be captured. This year, I had the opportunity to film one of the most magical markets in Germany: the Christmas market in Leipzig.

It wasn’t just about capturing the holiday spirit; it was about documenting the beauty of a place where tradition meets the hustle and bustle of the modern season. From the shimmering Christmas lights to the warm glow of the food stalls, every hand with a yummy treat, every corner of this market offered a visual feast I couldn’t wait to film.

Of course, no Christmas market experience is complete without food. But in Leipzig, the food wasn’t just delicious—it was downright cinematic. There were the classic roasted chestnuts, perfectly golden and crackling in their shells. The smell of sizzling bratwurst filled the air, and you couldn’t walk by without catching a glimpse of the perfectly browned sausages being served up hot from the grill. Kartoffelpuffer (Potato Pancakes), Champignons (Mushrooms), Flammkuchen (Flatbread Pizza), Schupfnudeln (Potato Dumplings), Wurst (Sausages), Currywurst (Curried Sausages), Burgers and so much more could stop you from cooking during the whole market season.

I made sure to capture every little detail. The steam rising from mugs of hot chocolate, the gooey warmth of freshly baked gingerbread cookies, and the shiny, caramelized apples glistening under the Christmas lights. Each bite seemed to tell a story of its own, so I made sure my camera captured the vibrant colors, textures, and movements.

With love, from Berlin.

Sometimes, you just have to let go of the plan and see where life takes you. For me, it took me to Berlin

Sometimes the best days are the ones that don’t go according to plan. My friends and I had the perfect lunch outing in mind: something cozy, maybe a little local, and definitely not too far from home. But, as life often does, it threw us a curveball—and next thing we knew, we were driving to Berlin.

I’m a filmmaker, so whenever I get the chance to explore a new city, I always pack my camera gear. What started as a simple lunch turned into an entire day of documenting the streets, the people, and the stories that make Berlin such a fascinating place.
